Preparing for (and caring for) your overseeded lawn
Mow shorter before seeding, don't mow for two weeks after, and keep new seed consistently moist. Here's the full plan.
Before your service: we'll send prep instructions about a month ahead and confirmations in the final two weeks. Mow about an inch shorter than usual right before seeding, and mark sprinkler heads and invisible-fence lines if you're getting mechanical aeration.
After seeding: don't mow for about two weeks while seed germinates. Watering changes completely: new seed needs light, frequent watering (often daily or twice daily for short periods) to stay consistently moist. We leave a specific watering plan on your post-service report; keeping seed moist is the single biggest factor in your results.
What to expect: germination usually starts within one to three weeks depending on temperature and watering, with fuller fill-in over the following month or two.
