Brown patches and lawn disease

Summer brown patches usually have one of two causes. The first is fungal disease: brown patch and dollar spot thrive in heat and humidity, especially on fescue, and here's the catch: watering more actually makes it worse. The second is hot spots: thin-soil areas that dry out faster than the rest of the lawn, which irrigation fixes.

We treat brown patch, dollar spot, spring dead spot, and others, timing applications around disease risk and weather rather than waiting for visible damage, because with fungicide, prevention wins. Three disease applications are included in our Essential and Elite programs (Signature aeration & seeding adds a fourth during seeding).

You can help: water deeply in the early morning (never in the evening), mow high with a sharp blade, and avoid over-fertilizing with quick-release nitrogen.
